Gardener/Grounds person wanted for a private family estate in Surrey/Sussex border.  

Working as part of a team (Reporting to the Head Gardener) helping to maintain an impressive and diverse garden.

The role is suitable either as a Full Time or Part Time position. A minimum of 24 hours per week would need to be fulfilled. A maximum of 40 hours per week would be offered.

A suitable applicant will be able to show:

  • Proven practical experience of maintaining formal lawn areas to a high standard
  • Qualifications in Turf Management and/or Lawn Care
  • PA1/PA6 Safe Use and the Operations of Applying Pesticides and Herbicides
  • Comprehensive knowledge of routine maintenance tasks such as mowing, edging, weeding and lawn repairs.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of seasonal maintenance tasks such as the treatment of lawn weeds, scarification, aeration, irrigation, control of moss, worms and diseases.
  • Thorough knowledge and experience of using and maintaining garden machinery (ride on mowers, pedestrian mowers, strimmers, edgers, etc.)
  • A keen interest in gardens, familiarity with most gardening practices together with experience of seasonal garden maintenance including collection of leaf litter, hedge-cutting and planting.
  • Experience in the maintenance of informal long grass areas and the establishing of meadows.
  • Good verbal communication skills, good organisational skills, a good understanding of Health and Safety issues, a valid driving licence
  • Strong work ethic – trustworthy, honest, reliable, punctual, hardworking and able to work in all types of weather
  • You will need to be well motivated with a sharp eye for detail and a desire to achieve high standards, ability to work on own initiative.

This is an exciting opportunity to join a motivated and dedicated team. The role will involve working individually however a willingness to work alongside and to support other staff is essential.

A Full Time 40 hour working week will typically be Monday to Friday, 8am-4.30pm

Expected Salary of £26,500 - £29k DOE

or

A Part Time 24 hour working week will typically be 3x 8 hour days 8am-4:30pm. One of the 3 days must be either a Thursday or a Friday.

Expected Salary of 16k – £17,500 DOE
