What You'll Be Doing
We are seeking a passionate and skilled horticultural specialist to help maintain our cemetery sites. In this role, you'll handle a variety of hands-on tasks like mowing, hedge cutting, and pruning, while also ensuring the safe operation and maintenance of equipment. You'll plan your daily workload, manage stock orders, ensure all health and safety procedures are followed, and report any structural or environmental changes.
Beyond horticulture, you'll engage with the public and represent the Commission at ceremonies. You'll need to perform some administrative tasks so being IT literate is essential. You'll collaborate with Skilled Maintenance Craftspeople, and ensure each site remains a beautiful and respectful space.
The role requires you to travel around the north region, so a drivers licence is essential. Due to the nature of the role, some overnight stays may be required for things like ceremonies, training, and further-afield locations of which we will contribute towards costs.
If you love working outdoors and want to make a meaningful impact, apply today to join our team where our gardeners make up over half our workforce!
What You Need to Have
- NVQ level 2 in Horticulture (or equivalent) OR practical experience within horticulture, such as plant identification, sustainable garden practices, and garden maintenance.
- Understanding of health & safety
- Experience with a wide range of garden machinery
- Full UK driver's license (Manual)
- Punctual, self-motivated, trustworthy, team player, and reliable
- IT literate
