Company Overview:
Our Milton Keynes based client is a leading supplier of flowers, plants, and sundries to business florists across the UK. Their operations include a warehouse with a cold store where we manage the picking and packing of daily orders received through their webshop. They import our products from Europe and other parts of the world, ensuring they are stored and handled with the utmost care to maintain their quality.

 Job Summary:
The Operations Manager will oversee the day-to-day operations of the warehouse, including managing the cold store, ensuring efficient picking and packing of orders, and maintaining overall profitability. This role involves overseeing account managers, consolidating orders from the Netherlands, and managing various business aspects such as legal, finance, and administration with support from our head office in the Netherlands. Additionally, the Operations Manager will handle HR issues and manage local staff schedules.

 Key Responsibilities:

  • Warehouse Management:
  • Oversee daily warehouse operations, including the cold store.
  • Ensure efficient picking and packing of webshop orders.
  • Maintain inventory accuracy and manage stock levels.
  • Implement quality control measures.
  • Manage sundries and ensure their proper handling.
  • Order Consolidation:
  • Consolidate individual orders from the Netherlands.
  • Coordinate with suppliers to ensure timely delivery and product quality.
  • Profitability and Financial Oversight:
  • Monitor and manage business profitability.
  • Oversee financial operations and reporting with head office support.
  • Sales and Account Management:
  • Supervise account managers and support their sales activities.
  • Develop and implement sales strategies to drive business growth.
  • Legal, Finance, and Administration:
  • Ensure compliance with legal and regulatory requirements.
  • Manage administrative tasks and coordinate with the head office for financial matters.
  • Staff Management:
  • Oversee scheduling and timetabling of packers and warehouse staff.
  • Address HR issues and manage local staff, ensuring a positive and productive work environment.

Qualifications:

  • Proven experience in warehouse or operations management.
  • Strong understanding of supply chain and logistics.
  • Excellent leadership and team management skills.
  • Proficiency in financial management and reporting.
  • Knowledge of HR practices and legal compliance.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and handle multiple tasks.
  • Knowledge of flowers and plants in a wholesale environment.
  • Proficiency in using CRM systems.
  • Flexible working hours and ability to adapt to seasonal peaks.

Skills:

  • Strong organizational and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities.
  • Proficiency in using warehouse management systems and other relevant software (ideally Florisoft).
  • Attention to detail and a commitment to quality.
