Plant Buyer - Horticultural


Remote

Ready to put your horticultural expertise and commercial acumen to use?

This is an exciting opportunity to join a dynamic and growing team in a full-time, flexible role for a household name. You will be an essential part of the buying team of a leading Garden Centre Group.



You will be responsible for
  • Travelling across Europe and the UK to source high-quality plants from growers.
  • Ensuring a constant flow of hardy plant stock to 65 garden centres.
  • Evaluating plant cost, retail price, and quality to make informed purchasing decisions.
  • Maintaining precise product and range information within each plant category.
  • Supporting the development of new product ranges and centres.
  • Regularly conducting market research to ensure products align with the latest trends and producing and analysing reports to improve growth opportunities.
  • Communicating effectively with internal and external stakeholders to ensure smooth operations.




What you'll need
  • Extensive experience in the Garden Centre Industry and in-depth knowledge of plants.
  • Strong commercial sense and the ability to make strategic buying decisions.
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to build relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Proficiency in Excel and strong data analysis skills.
  • Strong attention to detail for documentation and data entry in a fast-paced environment.
  • Willingness to travel frequently (70% of this role will be travelling both domestically and internationally)
