Career

This post is subject to a 3-month probation period. Salary 12.50/14.40£/hour plus bonuses and perks depending on the experience. Van provided (no personal use).

We are happy to receive applications from soft-landscapers, horticulturists, but also maintenance gardeners seeking a change of career. Any additional training required to enable this role to be performed will be provided at the company’s expense. This position has the long-term potential of a managerial position.

Working with us

The company is specialising in soft-landscaping and wildlife friendly gardens in particular and we strive to leave the lighter carbon footprint possible applying permaculture principles to our gardens. The job involves but is not limited to ground preparation, soil improvement, natural engineering, planting, lawn and meadow flower seeding, turfing. Some involvement in other aspects of landscaping is part of the job. For this reason, we are looking for someone who is happy to complete ad hoc duties as required.

Due to our peculiar approach to landscaping and maintenance, a previous working experience in a foreign country is highly desirable.

Due to the nature of the job the candidate must be physically fit and able to work in all weather conditions.

The candidate will work in a team most days, but there may be occasions when they will work by themselves.

Working hours

Working hours are from 7.50AM to 4.30PM from Monday to Friday but some flexibility is required. We have clients in a 50 miles radius from Cambridge, thus some early starts and working away from home are inevitable.

The Candidate

Ideally the candidate will have the following skill set:

Soft landscaping and/or Horticultural/maintenance experience (mandatory)

Punctuality and house-keeping (mandatory)

Working experience abroad (desirable)

Good dexterity

Take pride in their own work

Neat, tidy, and presentable always

Good command of spoken and written English

A full, clean UK driving license (mandatory)

A passion for gardening, nature, the environment

Right to live and work in the UK

Experience/having any of the following skills would be great, but not mandatory: Ability to read architect plans and be able to set out projects in line with the drawings. CSCS card. Certified use of Excavators & Dumpers.

Discretion and professionalism with clients are always required.

References will be required.

Your location

We have clients all over Cambridgeshire and surrounding counties and you will be provided with a goes home van. Thus, your location is relatively of little importance. But the company’s storage is located close to Ely, most of our jobs are between Peterborough and Cambridge, and sometimes daily stops to the storage are necessary.

In case you are willing to relocate, we are happy to help with the process and costs.

Holiday: 30 days holiday (includes Bank Holidays)

Uniform and PPE will be provided.

Benefits:

- Bonus scheme

- Use of a company’s van after probation period

- Ongoing training and development

- Being a small company, we can offer flexibility and growth

- If you are stuck in London, or in another uncomfortable place, and would like to relocate to a more friendly environment (with or without family) we will be happy to help with the relocation costs and organisation.
