Horticulture Production Manager
Chichester
£negotiable

Stuck? Frustrated? Ready for that senior position?

This role will see you reporting to the managing director. You'll have a wealth of responsibility, but growing quality plants will always remain your focus.

Tell me the facts
You'll manage the production across 2 sites totalling 20 acres.

You'll be growing over 3 million pots a year.

You'll be managing a team of 11, going up during peak.

This role consists of 3 main parts: Propagation, Planning and Buying.

Propagation: You'll be managing the prop team, systems, and resources. You'll be training and motivating the team, getting the best results from day one.

You'll oversee quality in the prop department, work to budgets, and work with the wider business to get that collaborative approach.

Production: You'll be creating production plans, again working with the wider team to ensure everyone is on board.

You'll be using your excel and horticultural knowledge to review prior years, sales data and more to make sure your production plans are in line with the ever-evolving horticultural industry.

Buying: The role so far is heavily internal management. This part of the role is a bit different, though.

You'll be the key contact for buying all products associated with the nursery. Young plants, bulbs, trays, media, you'll manage this.

Through your prior knowledge in the industry and your strong production plans, you'll know what you need to source and build strong relationships across the industry.

What do I need?
Commercial nurseries are where the bulk of your experience will have been.

You'll be confident in growing quality ornamentals, from propagation onwards.

Communication will be one of your natural strengths, and you'll be confident in excel.
