Job Details

Our North London based client are looking for an experienced horticulturalist to become a team leader. This is an exciting and challenging role maintaining some of our key clients' gardens. We are looking for an applicant who can hit the ground running and lead a team working on a small selection of regular gardens.

You shall be working with a horticulturalist, managing your day and delegating and supervising the work that they carry out. The successful candidate will become a key player in a growing company with potential future progression. The right candidate will have the same tenacious motivation to get stuck into the business and the work we do - creating, improving and caring for inspiring gardens.

 

Job summary:

They are looking for a passionate, personable and knowledgeable experienced horticulturalist to join our team which is based in NW3 (Primrose Hill). The role will require a real drive and desire to deliver exceptional quality garden (maintenance focused) services to high-end residential houses. The role will involve client management and supervision of a horticulturalist that works alongside you. A hands-on and joyful attitude is required to fit into the company culture and a thirst for knowledge to continue progressing within the role.

 

The role:

Full time employment Highly competitive salary with prospects of bonuses Garden maintenance (mowing, hedge cutting, strimming, blowing, weeding, pruning, tidying) - multiple gardens per day Garden landscaping (planting, clearing, turfing, minor construction such steel edge installation / sleeper pathways etc) Monitoring of irrigation systems & water features General working hours between 7:30am - 4:30pm .

Confident and able to use phone based apps for work throughout the course of the day as part of the role Supervision of a member of staff working alongside you in the gardens. The successful applicant must:

  • Be a people person - personable, well mannered and presentable. This is particularly important as we deal with high end clients
  • Full and clean UK driving licence and confident in driving electric vehicles around London roads Have a strong horticultural knowledge and plant base and ideally at least 2-5 years experience working in high end residential gardens Horticultural qualification(s).
  • Be physically fit and able to carry out a demanding and fast paced role 5 days a week
  • Be able to work on their own initiative both in a team and alone
  • Be flexible with work hours and pitching in with other tasks, when required - to get the job done Be focused, hard working and swift when on the job
  • Have excellent time management and organisational skills - as a guide we can maintain up-to 5 gardens per day
  • Tidy and considerate (side access is not always available so we often go through peoples homes)
  • Confident with plant health and cross contamination measures Confident with all areas of shaping and pruning (with plant health as the main priority)
  • Understanding of pests and diseases with preventative and treatment methods being eco-friendly (we are environmentally conscious in everything we do, this is at the core of our ethos)
  • A strong knowledge of tools - we use a wide range of electric power tools everyday (mowers, blowers, strimmers, hedge cutters) - as well as hand tools and other equipment - and how to use them effectively
  • Strong delegation skills and the ability to follow-up with the horticulturalist you are working with. Excellent communication skills - client management and constant communication with the management team is key to the success of the role.
  • Good garden management skills and the ability to plan ahead across the gardening year. The ability to support the management team to ensure that your gardens look the best and that your clients receive the best possible levels of care.

 

Personal Management:

You are expected to arrive promptly for work and will need to be able to reliably commute to NW3 for 7:30am each day. We expect all staff to join in with company events and socials where possible to help build relationships with fellow team members and to build team morale. A professional and can-do attitude. All staff are expected to uphold the company values.
