Ryde Farm is a premier private 2000-acre Surrey estate known for its breath-taking ornamental gardens, woodlands and wider landscapes. There is an exciting opening to join the estate team as a groundsman. Full time and part time will be both considered.

Responsibilities:

-lawn care and it’s daily maintenance:

mowing (ride on & pedestrian), hedge trimming, feeding and weeding as necessary.

-leaf collection and collection of gardening teams arisings to 

ensure the estate grounds are always immaculate.

-hedge cutting

-maintenance of shrubs and shrubbery beds . Hold a chainsaw ticket and adhere to all appropriate health and safety laws ( or be prepared to train towards this). Assist in the planting and care of all plants including shrubs, and trees.

-Operate and maintain groundskeeping equipment.

-Assist in the annual orchard pruning (training could be given) & woodland flailing.

Collaborate with the principal, Estate Manager and Head Gardener to arrange program of work.

Maintain a high standard of tidiness and cleanliness of tools and shed to ensure biosecurity of site.

Comply with all Health and Safety laws.

Requirements:

Proven experience in groundskeeping or a similar role, preferably within a large private estate or similar setting.

Competency in operating landscaping equipment.

Physical fitness and the ability to undertake manual tasks all day including lifting, bending, and working in various weather conditions, including during inclement weathers.

A keen eye for detail and a strong sense of pride in maintaining high standards of estate presentation.

Effective communication skills, with the ability to work well both independently and as part of a team.

A valid driver’s license is essential; certifications in spraying (PA1/PA6AW), chainsaw ticket, first aid and health and safety are highly desirable.
