The Head of Public Spaces will lead a diverse team responsible for the maintenance and improvement of the council’s play areas, outdoor sports facilities, parks, open spaces, allotments and cemeteries.

The role will provide supportive but decisive oversight of both the day-to-day operational work of the service and include the preparation and implementation of medium to long-term strategies for the management and improvement of these assets, including the management of the Alver Valley Country Park.

The role will also have oversight of the council’s countryside service and In Bloom programme. The Head of Public Spaces will also perform the role of client manager for the Coastal Partnership.
