Private Estate located in South Wales near Cowbridge, in the Vale of Glamorgan.

The historic gardens and estate surround a Georgian mansion dating from c.1770; and have belonged to the same family since construction. The owners have initiated a major program of improvement to the house and gardens.

The gardens include both formal and informal spaces, a superb and very historic walled garden which is being brought back into cultivation. The historic Kitchen Garden includes a sizeable Alitex glasshouse, frames and potting shed. The gardens will be managed along no dig and organic principals where possible.

The garden is surrounded by rolling countryside with woodland, veteran trees, and beautiful views. There is an abundance of historic features including walls which are being repaired, old Yew hedges which are being clipped creatively, and views and vistas are now being revealed.

This is the start of an ongoing garden project which provides the opportunity for the Sole Gardener (with assistance) to input directly. There is an opportunity to help choose and propagate the range of perennial material that will support a naturalistic style of structured planting and to enhance the natural elements of the garden. 

Salary will reflect the Professional Gardeners Guild salary recommendations for 2024 which will be circa £31k - £40k. Where applicable, we will help with the cost of relocating to the area.
