We are seeking a special candidate to manage our small nursery, liaise directly with the company owner and implement a schedule of works. Undertake maintenance of the stock and the grounds and help with daily operations on and off the nursery.
Responsibilities:
• Maintenance of stock including pruning, feeding, weeding, watering, plant health, potting of new stock and repotting current stock, plant preparation.
• Daily inspection of irrigation system, pest/disease monitoring and control
• Liaise with delivery drivers and assist with loading/offloading trailers and delivery vehicles.
• Grounds maintenance ensuring our nursery serves as an impressive shop window for our high-quality plants.
• Some offsite work in the winter months assisting with deliveries , liaising with clients and planting.

As a nursery person you will have the vital role of ensuring the hardy stock on our nursery is well maintained in line with industry practices. With some of our wonderful mature topiary pieces being 50+ years old, the care they receive is vital.
Strong attention to detail and a passion to maintain high standards is a must.
There is a high level of autonomy with this hands on, varied position and it would suit those who can comfortably work independently, but also as part of a team.
You may meet visiting clients on the nursery from time to time where your in-depth plant knowledge will be well received. Experience in operating small telehandlers and attachments as well as other machinery an advantage, training can be arranged if not certified.
Experience working with contractors and horticultural suppliers.
Giving weekly feedback to the owner, you will be his right hand person, developing your skills while building a lasting partnership.
In the busy rootball season (October to May) you will have the opportunity to visit clients properties and help with plant deliveries and planting. Occasionally this may happen in the summer months too. You will be asked to submit your personal details for enhanced background security checks, allowing you to enter sensitive sites we visit and work at.
Full clean driving licence essential with experience towing trailers an advantage.
RHS level two or higher qualification as a minimum with relevant industry experience.
