Senior Gardener/Team Leader

An experienced gardener is sought to play a leading role on a stunning and historic 200-acre private estate in Ascot, Berkshire.  

This position would suit a proactive, committed, and hands-on gardener who has demonstrable experience of working within a private estate or prestigious public garden. A key element to this role will be to support the Head Gardner with the day-to-day management of staff and the coordination of special projects and garden administration. This is a rare opportunity for a talented and passionate gardener to further enhance their horticultural knowledge and gain valuable experience in managing a large garden team.

This role will assist with: 

1. Plant procurement and garden administration
2. Maintaining herbaceous and mixed borders throughout the Estate  
3. Cut-flower production  
4. Seasonal bulb and pot planting  
5. Assisting with a new Alitex display greenhouse
6. Cut flower borders
7. Herbaceous borders
8. The Potager
9. Autumn bulb planting
10. Half hardy and hardy annuals
11. Dead heading and pruning
12. Rose garden pruning

Required experience:

1. At least three years' experience
2. Greenhouse, Vegetable and Herbaceous knowledge is an advantage, on going training and guidance would be provided.
3. Horticultural qualifications or equivalent experience
4. Basic IT skills – MS Office
