Assistant Technical Manager / Grower

Due to continued expansion Allensmore Nurseries are looking to recruit an Assistant Technical Manager/Grower to take responsibility for crop protection at our Madley site and our field-grown roses.

This is a fantastic opportunity to join an exciting, dynamic and expanding local company.

Key Responsibilities:

• Plan and oversee crop protection and herbicide programmes
• Take responsibility for the biological control programme at the Madley site, including distribution and subsequent monitoring
• Maintain hygiene standards across the Madley site
• Train and develop the cultural team in pest/disease monitoring and the technical aspects of growing
• Ensure regular P&D crop walks are completed
• Ensure accurate records are kept for compliance with Quality Management systems
• Carry out nursery trials on crop protection products

Person Specification:

• Good familiarity with agricultural or horticultural pests, diseases and weeds
• Knowledge of crop protection products and/or biological control products
• Basic understanding of product authorisations for ornamental crops
• Level 3 or higher qualification in an agricultural, horticultural or biological sciences subject
• Experience in commercial production of ornamental crops, or willingness to learn
