We’re on the hunt for a passionate Kitchen and Engagement Gardener who shares our zeal for protecting, conserving, and maintaining the Royal Parks’ natural and designed landscapes. Are you a passionate and experienced Kitchen Gardener seeking a unique opportunity to lead the delivery of key objectives within the Royal Parks?
Are You What We Are Looking For?
As a Kitchen and Engagement Gardener, you will:
- Provide excellent customer service when working with members of the public and volunteers.
- Hold a qualification in Horticulture to RHS General Level 2.
- Bring a minimum of 3 years of experience in Kitchen or allotment gardening.
- Demonstrate sound knowledge and the ability to create an annual plan for a kitchen garden, ensuring year-round interest and produce.
- Possess extensive knowledge in plant propagation, pruning, germination, grafting, and fruit tree pruning.
- Apply good plant husbandry knowledge and organic principles for growing fruit and vegetables.
- Have a comprehensive understanding of plant varieties with a keen interest in kitchen gardening.
- Be competent in operating power tools, including lawn mowers, strimmers, and hedge cutting equipment.
- Demonstrate excellent awareness of Health & Safety protocols and procedures.
- Hold a full and clean UK Driver’s License, with the ability to drive a medium-size van/vehicle.
- Exhibit the ability to work independently and as a part of a team.
- Showcase good verbal communication and organizational skills.
- Embody honesty, reliability, and dependability.
- Be well-motivated with an eye for detail and a commitment to achieving high standards.
- Be flexible in your approach, understanding the role of volunteers within the charity sector.
- Possess the ability to manage a team of volunteers, overseeing work planning and recruitment processes.
- Preferably, implement gardening using organic methods and products.
- Demonstrate proficiency in IT skills.
- Understand pest and disease management techniques.
- Grasp the storage, maintenance, and management of tools and equipment for the kitchen garden and its volunteers.
