Skilled Gardener / Horticulturist

We are looking for an experienced, enthusiastic gardener to join our team to help maintain and develop the gardens and grounds of this beautiful private country estate.

The estate is set in serene surroundings in the Kent countryside, just outside of Tunbridge Wells. The 28-acre grounds consist of a 3-acre formal garden, ancient woodland, paddocks and ponds. The features of the garden include a vegetable and cut flower garden, glasshouse, traditional orchard, lawn, floral meadow, roof gardens, ornamental beds and borders, topiary, trained fruit trees and roses.

We are looking for someone with formal horticultural training and hands-on experience in a professional garden setting.

Applicants should have a good level of plant knowledge, excellent attention to detail, and careful attitude to their work.

The role will suit someone with a creative eye, strong work ethic and desire to achieve high standards.

Applicants should be happy both to work alongside the team, under the instruction of the Head Gardener, and be self-motivated, with the ability to work at pace, using their own initiative.

The working day is varied, with the opportunity to undertake a wide range of horticultural tasks. The team also cares for the family pets, so the applicant should be an animal lover.

This is a full-time post, 40 hrs / week, although part-time working may be an option. The hours are 0800 – 1645, Monday – Friday. Occasional weekend or out of hours work may be requested, to cover watering duties, animal care, and other essential tasks. Annual leave is 21 days + bank holidays.
