Assistant Gardener for a private home located in Knaresborough, close to the town of Harrogate in North Yorkshire, the garden designed by Tom Stuart-Smith forms part of over 8 acres of beautiful landscape, surrounding this historic home.

We are seeking someone to work alongside our existing Head Gardener.  Experience of working in a similar setting is beneficial, however as important is an ability to demonstrate self-motivation and desire to see high standards of presentation.

Experience of using garden related machinery, such as ride on mowers, brushcutters, chainsaw is desirable. 

The role is varied, and work will cover all aspects relating to the garden and grounds, such as maintenance of perennial borders, climbing and shrub roses, and woodland planting.  There is a walled garden primarily laid out with perennials and grasses with areas for cut flower growing and a glasshouse for further propagation.  Experience in these areas would be desirable but not essential.  There are also meadows extending from the house set with wildflowers.

Working hours are 8am till 4pm Monday to Friday, though there is some flexibility.

Competitive salary offered dependent on experience £24,000 to £30,000.

Annual holidays 33 days (including statutory holidays).
