1X EXCITING GARDENER OPPORTUNITY - OXFORDSHIRE

We are currently seeking a skilled and passionate Head Gardener to join our team and oversee the maintenance and development of house gardens within a private estate. Located in a picturesque setting on the edge of the Cotswolds, the estate boasts extensive gardens, lawns, and woodland areas that require meticulous care and attention.

As the Head Gardener, you will be responsible for the smooth operation of  all gardening activities. You will play a vital role in maintaining the aesthetic appeal of the estate, implementing innovative garden designs, and preserving the natural beauty of the surroundings. As a key member of our team, you will be expected to foster a positive working environment and demonstrate leadership skills.

Responsibilities:

- Develop and implement comprehensive maintenance plans for the gardens, lawns, and woodland areas.

- Oversee all aspects of gardening, including planting, pruning, weeding, and watering.

- Manage the estate's plant inventory, ensuring that it is well maintained and regularly updated.

- Monitor and control pests and diseases effectively, utilizing organic and environmentally-friendly methods when possible.

- Train and guide the gardening team, providing ongoing support and encouraging professional development.

- Fruit tree pruning & spraying & management of vegetable gardens.

- Maintain all gardening equipment, ensuring it is in excellent working condition.

Requirements:

- Extensive experience in professional gardening, preferably in the management of private estates or high end properties.

- Strong knowledge of horticulture, including plant identification, growth patterns, and common diseases.

- Proven track record in designing, implementing, and maintaining aesthetically pleasing gardens and grounds.

- Excellent leadership and communication skills, with the ability to motivate and inspire a team.

- Proficiency in using gardening equipment and tools.

- Knowledge of sustainable and environmentally & friendly gardening practices.

- Ability to work independently, manage multiple tasks, and meet deadlines.

- A passion for gardening and a genuine appreciation for the beauty of nature.

- Full, Clean UK Driving Licence

- Chainsaw certificates are advantageous.

- Equivalent level 2 horticultural qualification & PA1 PA6 spraying certificates
