Assistant Grounds Maintenance Manager, Salary scale 6. £32,909 - £36,298 per annum 12 month Contract.   

An enthusiastic and self-motivated Assistant Grounds Maintenance Manager is required at Basingstoke and Deane Borough Council. 

You will be responsible for managing the large maintenance team for your specific area and the continued development of other teams within the remit i.e. tractors or landscape maintenance teams. The successful applicant will have all round management experience, with qualifications in horticulture or a related land use sector.  The applicant must be well organised and capable of using their own initiative, be reliable, dynamic and prepared to work in a front line environment. The applicant should have a strong work ethic and be detail orientated. Reporting to the Grounds Maintenance Manager you will work closely with the other Assistant Manager in creating a positive working environment for your staff whilst ensuring all health and safety compliance is adhered to at all times.   

As well as being dynamic you will be a natural leader who can prioritise your workload, work under pressure and display a "can do" attitude at all times. You will have the ability to achieve results by effectively leading, and motivating your team to ensure they perform to their best whilst providing an excellent customer service to the public.  You will be able to perform under pressure and operate in a variable paced environment dictated by work load and seasonal changes. A formal horticultural qualification and relevant practical experience in horticulture in a similar environment is essential. A good level of plantsmanship and knowledge of horticultural techniques covering a broad spectrum of species would be advantageous.  You will require good IT skills and be competent using our internal systems. A full driving licence is required for the role.
