Fulltime Gardener.

Reports to the Head Gardener.

This is a practical hands on role, supporting the Head Gardener in all aspects of the gardens maintenance and presentation to the highest horticultural standards and practices.

The garden and woodland are 4 acres with a surrounding parkland of 40 acres

The extensive garden and parkland have been designed by Jinny Blom and are now moving to a second stage of development. This stage will look to establish the detail of the existing scheme, as well as further planting and significant ongoing refinement to establish the highest standard of horticultural management and presentation.

The garden contains a wide and diverse range of horticultural areas and is particularly well supported with areas for composting, glasshouses, and storage.

The candidate must be willing and able to use a range of equipment that may be required in the maintenance of the garden – training will be given.

The gardener will be involved in all aspects of the garden and estates maintenance and on-going improvement. They will be experienced

  • Support positive communication and appropriate engagement with the Head Gardener, the owners, and the property manager, designer and their team. Practical experience and/or Entry Level Qualification in gardens and/or landscape management at RHS Level 2 or perhaps a Traineeship in horticultural practices. Comprehensive plant knowledge, a keen interest in gardens and landscapes, familiarity with most gardening practices together with the use and maintenance of machinery e.g. mowers and strimmer’s. A willingness to work alongside and to support other staff and volunteers. Well-motivated with an eye for detail and a desire to achieve a high standards, ability to work on own initiative. Good written and verbal communication skills, good organisational skills, a good understanding of Health and Safety issues, a valid driving licence.
