Kitchen Gardener

Netherby Hall in Cumbria is looking for a motivated and dynamic kitchen gardener to lead a small team in the walled garden to produce fantastic fruit and vegetables for the Pentonbridge Inn.

The walled garden has been restored over many years and has four large glasshouses, large vegetable beds and many wall-trained fruit, herbaceous borders and a large, raised bed area.

Working alongside the Head Gardener, you will liaise with the head chef regularly to plan and supply the kitchen with fantastic produce used in this fine dining restaurant.

We are looking for a dynamic individual with at least 3 years’ experience of working as a kitchen gardener or market gardener,  alongside being a skilled and confident propagator and running glasshouses.  You will need to be able to plan your annual rota, comfortably manage the glasshouses, have experience of bio controls and propagation timetables, as well as work hands on in the garden to maintain and keep the gardens looking at peak performance. 

The gardens are open to the public on set days of the year and available to holidaying guests at all times and it is a must they look exciting, well-kept and nurtured. 

A desire to work with no-dig and sustainable methods are a must as well as being fit and happy to work in all weathers, as is being a motivated member of the team and buzzing with new ideas and energy.
