THE ROLE

This is an exciting opportunity to help shape, manage and expand a developing Landscaping Company. You will manage team/teams and will lead on communications, oversee delivery as well as provide budget oversight. You will collaborate closely with colleagues to achieve this whilst closely monitoring the general performance and development of staff. You will liaise with Management to ensure that all quotations are accurate and reflect the works required. You will promote high standards of work and be mindful of HR and safety processes referring to management as the need arises.

JOB DESCRIPTION

Quality & Customer Satisfaction 

  • Provides an escalation point for customers to flag issues/successes.
  • Actively seek customer feedback throughout the life of the project to understand and resolve issues.
  • Puts processes in place to ensure the monitoring and control of Quality Management policies and procedures are being adhered to.
  • Ensures that Standard Operating Procedures and Best Practice are consistently implemented across projects
  • Monitors quality and customer satisfaction reports and put in place measures to deal with issues and to celebrate and share success.
  • Ensures that the project team complies with the employer’s requirements and other contractual requirements.
  • Establishes the benchmark for Quality and ensures that it is achieved.

Health & Safety

  • Prepares construction phase Health & Safety plans.
  • Works with the General Manager / Directors to make sure that plans are in place adhering to all aspects of the Company’s Health & Safety Policies and Procedures.
  • Plans, monitors and critiques the Health & Safety performance of their sites.
  • Drives a safety-first culture with teams       

Project Compliance

  • Exercises sound judgement throughout the construction phase of the project ensuring client Confidence and project delivery.
  • Produces short term programmes, phasing strategies and resource plans.
  • Manages the cost and specification compliance of the project design.
  • Chairs and records actions from the monthly Project Review Meetings
  • Attends monthly client site meetings and then prepares Contractors Report
  • Allocate resources across projects to ensure operational delivery within budget
  • Ensure supply chain arrangements are in place so that sub-contract orders are placed in line with programme; and materials are delivered to the procurement schedule.
  • Monitors project progress and identify projects that are failing to deliver the required performance and deal with appropriately and immediately.

Commercial Management

  • Oversee the cost management of the project with the Director including the development and communication of Cost Value Reports (CVR’s)
  • Monitors the progress of projects in line revenue and GP targets
  • Puts reporting structures in place to ensure that cost are effectively managed.
  • Ensures the Buildability reviews are undertaken to realise cost effective design.

Key working relationships

  • The Business Development & Construction Manager needs to maintain a positive working relationship with colleagues across the organization. This is necessary to aid resource planning and to ensure consistency across projects.
  • The Business Development & Construction Manager will have accountability to the General Manager / Directors for projects within their remit and will respond to requests for client information and action.
  • The role will also need to develop good working relationships with client contacts. This will ensure that issues can be identified and resolved effectively and also allow the Contract Manager to understand what is working well / what needs to be changed. 
  • The Business Development & Construction Manager will liaise with the Client and their representatives on all operational matters relating to the projects under their management.
  • Coordinate the efforts of the Project Team(s) to maintain information flows

Responsibilities for colleagues.

  • The Business Development & Construction Manager will have management responsibility for performance management and disciplinary matters. In addition, provide mentoring and technical support to other colleagues in construction matters.
