The role

 

Leisure, Parks & Open Spaces is offering an exciting opportunity to join our hard-working team, developing our services across the Borough. The role is responsible for managing the allotments service and enhancing the concession and events portfolio within our parks, open spaces whilst supporting services across the department.

 

The role entails engagement with various residents, stakeholders, concessionaires and event organisers to guarantee delivery of an effective service whilst ensuring the requirements of the Council are maintained. They will contribute to shaping the future of the departments portfolio, streamlining the service, keeping web pages contemporary whilst ensuring current legislation and best practices are taken into consideration when updating the Council’s policies.

 

The role requires you to directly manage the Allotments & Cemeteries Technician and work alongside team members in effective delivery of the service. Your responsibilities will involve occasional evening and weekend working to attend meetings.

 

 

 

About You

 

We are seeking to appoint a dynamic, innovative, Parks & Events Business Development Officer to deliver, manage and input into an assortment of projects within their portfolio and across the wider department.  You must enjoy the variety of challenges this job entails with a positive attitude, ability to manage time efficiently and can work effectively on your own initiative and as part of the team.

 

You will have excellent communication and interpersonal skills with a broad breadth of knowledge across disciplines. Able to produce complex reports and present briefings for a wide range of audiences, drawing on previous experience and best practices.

 

Previous managerial experience within an amenity management field and practical experience of working with stakeholders, event organisers and concession contracts would be invaluable. You will be commercially astute recognising opportunities for Bexley and develop relationships, communicating effectively, liaising and negotiating across a range of clients, partners and external stakeholders. Ideally you will have former budgetary monitoring and financial reporting experience, knowledge of The Purple Guide and Health & Safety Legislation in relation to the services you will manage.
