The role

 

Leisure, Parks & Open Spaces is offering an exciting opportunity to join our hard working, diverse team, developing our services across the Borough. The role is responsible for project managing a portfolio of small to large-scale construction projects alongside leading on development and formation of policies and strategies across the department.  Engagement and consultation with Friends of Groups, Volunteers, stakeholders and residents from across Bexley is a key part of this role, utilising effective and creative ways of supporting them with funding bids, Green Flag and Britain in Bloom Applications and organising training to develop their skills alongside council employees whilst dealing with everyday enquiries.

 

About You

 

We are seeking to appoint an enthusiastic, well organised Service Development Officer to contribute to shaping the future of the service, who can deliver a multitude of projects across the department simultaneously.  You will have a keen interest in parks, open spaces, allotments, play and cemetery provision, enjoy teamwork and have a positive can-do attitude. Ideally, you will be an experienced project manager across an assorted range of construction projects and disciplines, demonstrating excellent budgetary monitoring, financial reporting, and contract management abilities. You will have excellent communication and interpersonal skills with a broad breadth of knowledge across disciplines and be capable of advising on planning and development applications, produce complex reports and present briefings for a wide range of audiences.  Previous supervisory involvement and liaison with volunteer groups and stakeholders to support the aims of the department would be invaluable. Candidates will bring with them experience of developing strategic policies and best practice guidance for council services based on research, benchmarking and consultation in line with changes in legislation.
