We're looking for an Assistant Gardener to join the Cheshire & Wirral portfolio on a fixed term basis for three months. You will be based at Hare Hill garden but will also work at Little Moreton Hall alongside the garden team.

You’ll have a love of gardens and will bring your experience and enthusiasm to help the team through the summer season. You'll have high standards, enjoy delivering and getting things done.

What it's like to work here
The Cheshire & Wirral portfolio is made up of the iconic Little Moreton Hall, the tranquil garden of Hare Hill, the magical woodland of Alderley Edge, the heathland of Thurstaston Common, and plenty of beautiful ‘pockets’ of Cheshire countryside- including a number of hills!

The garden team need to balance their time well, prioritising the peak seasons for visitors to all our places.

What you'll be doing
The role will help support the garden team through the summer season, working alongside staff and volunteers to deliver a wide range of practical horticultural work within the gardens at Hare Hill and Little Moreton Hall.

Who we're looking for
The successful applicant will hold NVQ 1-2 or have basic knowledge and skills through experience.

You will exemplify the “warm and friendly” visitor-focussed approach on which we pride ourselves, and you’ll share our enthusiasm and passion for the work we do.

The National Trust is described by its employee gardeners as “dynamic, supportive, inquisitive and fun”, where its beautiful places “lift your spirits naturally” and “somewhere you can expand new skills”. The organisation is currently recruiting for a number of gardening roles.
