About the role

Leading and co-ordinating the efforts of the StreetScene teams assigned to you, your role is to ensure the upkeep and maintenance of our public realm and open spaces, with health and safety at that heart of everything we do. Your remit involves everything from grounds maintenance and fly tipping to street/beach cleaning and supporting our events teams to deliver functions in the East of our district.  You will be responsible for ensuring your teams are equipped to carry out their roles (through allocation of appropriate resources and training) whilst working to budget and deadlines.  You will also play a critical role in building and maintaining positive relations with various community stakeholders and elected members as well as motivating your multi-skilled teams and supporting them through continual change.

About you

Organised, efficient and inspiring, you’ll have a desire to deliver a StreetScene Operations service to exceed expectations.  You will ideally be qualified to NVQ level 3 in either Management or a grounds maintenance related subject or have equivalent demonstrable experience.  Experience of monitoring budgets, meeting deadlines, and leading teams are also essential, together with excellent communications skills and IT literacy.  In addition, grounds maintenance of cleansing experience would be an advantage.  You must have the flexibility to occasionally work out of hours and participate in a weekend duty rota.  You will also hold a current valid driving licence (reasonable adjustments may be possible according to the Equality Act) as travelling throughout the district in a Council vehicle is also a requirement of the post.

About us

In return, you will be part of a Platinum Investors in People (IiP) organisation which works together with local people to create great value services and an outstanding community, economy and environment in which people want to live, work, visit and enjoy now, and for future generations.  And with our wide range of health and wellbeing benefits, our highly flexible and collaborative hybrid Worksmart working arrangements as well as our commitment to continuous learning and development, you can be confident of joining a dedicated community of colleagues who are Happy, Healthy and Here.
