Assistant Gardener

An exciting opportunity for an estate gardener to join a team near Mickleton, Gloucestershire.

We are seeking a candidate who is keen to learn and improve themselves during their career with us.

Experience preferred - however, you will be trained under the Head Gardener, in all aspects of horticulture and the work that goes on at a large privately owned estate.

Would ideally suit college leaver with relevant horticultural qualification, though not essential.

You will need to be:

  • Physically fit
  • Enthusiastic, self-motivated and flexible
  • Be committed to developing your skills and abilities in horticulture
  • Have good interpersonal skills and be a positive member of the team
  • Be able to work safely and take instruction

Typical duties will include, but are not limited to:

  • General garden maintenance
  • Seasonal bulb planting
  • Pruning of trees, shrubs, plants and topiary
  • Propagation
  • Assisting with greenhouse management and maintenance
  • Weed control
  • Assisting with the provision of cut flowers, fruit and vegetables for the main house
  • Maintenance of drives and paths
  • Tractor driving
  • Pedestrian and ride-on mowing
  • Strimming
  • Watering

Training will be provided to gain any qualifications required to perform the role.

Monday -Friday 8am - 5pm

Some weekend working will be required for greenhouse watering on a rota basis. Likely one weekend in three during summer months.


£20,000 – 24,000 p/a
