An exciting opportunity has arisen within the Parks and Countryside service of Leeds City Council for an Estate Officer, based at the successful Roundhay Park estate.

Roundhay Park in Leeds, West Yorkshire is one of the biggest city parks in Europe. It covers more than 700 acres of parkland, lakes, woodland and specialist gardens which are owned by Leeds City Council. The park is one of the most popular attractions in Leeds; nearly a million people visit each year.

Roundhay Park also offers a wide range of opportunities for recreation including walking and running routes, football and cricket pitches, tennis courts, bowling greens, 2 playgrounds and a skate park. The park also contains streams and a landscaped canal in the gardens of Tropical World. The estate hosts events both managed in-house, with partners and for external companies, examples include the recent Ed Sheeran concert, the World Triathlon series and the North Leeds Food and Drink Festival.

You will be expected to have experience in supervision and leading teams to deliver high quality work; you must have a proven ability to work to tight deadlines and able to prioritise your workload. The successful candidate will be a flexible, highly motivated individual who possesses excellent communication skills and a commitment to providing the highest level of service. Practical horticulture experience is preferred including the management and cultivation of gardens and land.

This post is responsible for volunteers, the gardens and grounds team, and regular close working with community groups, key stakeholders and partners to ensure seamless delivery of events, projects and schemes.

We are looking for a candidate with an enthusiasm for and experience of managing gardens, together with delivering visitor-focussed high quality facilities. Experience of delivering events would be beneficial.

A full, driving licence is essential and some lone working may be required.  You must be willing to work evenings or weekends where required, particularly when staging events.
