Full Time or Part Time Assistant Gardener required on a country house estate in West Berkshire between Reading and Newbury. To work with our Head Gardener on all gardening jobs and become part of the Estate Team.

Some gardening experience required. Salary DOE up to £28,000. With 20 days holiday a year plus Bank Holidays. 

Level 2 Horticulture, spraying and chainsaw tickets, ride on and machinery operating competence, would be useful. Training can be given if necessary.

Car driver essential.

You would be working as a member of a small team. As well as a walled vegetable garden there is an orchard, soft fruit cages, greenhouses with citrus and orchids, flower borders and wildflower meadows, woodlands and artesian springs, river and waterways with waterlilies, landscaping and bridges. 

The garden has specific areas created for sculpture which are enhanced by landscaping, planting and mowing. 

We work closely with our Farm Manager with access to larger machines for bigger jobs. We have a pedigree herd of Highland Cattle as well as thriving beehives. We have a large compost facility for garden and household waste and use many bio-friendly means to control pests and diseases.

Here is an opportunity to be involved in many aspects of gardening and land management to keep learning along the way. There is never a dull moment.
