To maintain our positive growth, we seek a dynamic experienced horticultural professional with management/team leader experience. The post is ideal for passionate garden centre managers and those aspiring to progress their career through commercial development and leadership.     

Jacksons Nurseries, Bagnall, Staffordshire Moorlands, ST9 9LE is a fast growing, family run, independently owned, traditional garden centre and plant nursery, serving the community for over 60 years and includes an extensive plant area with the majority of the plants coming directly from our own nursery, grown on site. Additionally, we offer a fantastic range of garden sundries, home and giftware in our Farm Shop and a busy Tearoom serving traditional home cooked meals complimented by an onsite bakery. Our Web Shop supports online Web Sales, Garden Centre, Tea Room and Farm Shop.

Job Description.
•    Manage the Garden Centre Team to ensure that work schedules are set and achieved, encouraging productivity on an individual well-defined basis.
•    Hands on customer service in person with prompt attention to enquiries & email queries.
•    Define, monitor & review weekly work requirement, staff hours, rotas, holidays & shift cover.
•    Technical plant knowledge based website support.
•    Merchandising and  plant displays to ensure an easy interesting customer experience.
•    Marketing/Advertising, working with the Commercial Manager to utilise social media platforms to encourage footfall.
•    Competitor awareness, event planning, sales promotions, ‘looking good’, stock sales analysis.
•    Encourage new business enquiries and opportunities including planting schemes and large customer order enquiries. 
•    Manage plant waste and staff inefficiencies promptly to minimise company exposure to costly and wasteful practices.
•    Awareness of onsite health & safety, reporting issues to the Directors.
•    Drive sales figures and profit targets.
•    Assist the management of stock control via EPOS and saleable plant awareness.
•    Capitalise industry seasonal peaks/troughs/buying trends and make changes to improve sales and customer service.
•    Involvement in the whole retail buying strategy. 

Key Skills
•    Previous experience within a fast paced garden centre environment.
•    Strong horticultural knowledge.
•    Ability to communicate verbally, numerically and in writing with clarity including competent M Office manipulation.
