Groundsperson/Gardener

An experienced Groundsperson/Gardener is wanted for a Private Estate in central Norfolk on a permanent live-in basis.  This is an exciting and rewarding opportunity to be a key part of one of Norfolk’s finest gardens & arboretum.

Duties to include :

• Grass cutting & lawn maintenance.
• Clearing of all leaves & strimming.
• Garden machinery maintenance & repairs.
• Assistance with general gardening when required.
• Maintenance of all gravel, courtyard & paved areas.
• Caretaking duties for the Hall, including security & pets.
• Occasional weekend work.

Basic Skills required :

• Essential to have considerable experience in the operation and maintenance of a wide range of garden & lawn machinery.
• Essential to have PA1 & PA6 certificates for use of pesticides.
• Essential to have a full clean driving licence.
• Desirable to have a chain saw licence & be experienced with their use and maintenance.
• Desirable to have a formal horticultural qualification, for example RHS level 2/3.

The applicant will work as part of a small team, together with the owners, but must also be able to work independently. The garden employs contractors to help with most of the gardening, pruning, hedge cutting etc. and the applicant will be expected to assist mostly with the more mechanical aspects of the garden.

Above all, the applicant must be a n/s, physically fit, hard-working, have a passion for grounds maintenance and lawns, able to work in all weathers and take a real pride in the appearance and standards of the grounds & garden.

A competitive salary in the range £22,000 to £26,000 is offered, depending on experience.
