Experienced Groundsman/Gardener – West Kent

We are looking to recruit an experienced groundsman/gardener to join the team at the Hadlow Estate.

The responsibilities include general gardening and grounds maintenance at a number of Estate properties including lawn mowing in season, pruning and weeding, hedge trimming and general garden upkeep.

You will also work alongside the gardener in 1 private garden on a regular basis. In addition, you will work with the Estate maintenance team on general outdoor and property maintenance.

The candidate must have a minimum of 5 years experience, preferably with a certificate in horticulture, and an excellent knowledge of plants and propagation. Experience in growing fruit and vegetables and management of herbaceous borders would be advantageous. The role may occasionally involve more extensive clearing of overgrown areas, for which a licence for the safe use of a chainsaw and a licence for general spraying of chemicals as weed control would be desirable.

We are looking for someone who is capable of working mainly unsupervised using their own initiative, but able to work within a team. They should be well organised, reliable, with good communication skills. Drivers licence and own vehicle preferable. Employer references required and will be followed up. Relevant horticultural certificates including chainsaw license & sprayer licence should be provided where available.

Contract type - permanent, full time.

Salary - commensurate with experience.

Start date : February onwards, but some flexibility possible.
