Westonbirt, The National Arboretum is one of the world’s finest botanical collections of trees and shrubs.  With approx. 2,800 taxa and 15,000 specimens growing in 250ha of a beautifully designed and picturesque landscape, it is a Grade I registered historic park and garden, and Level 4 ArbNet accredited arboretum.  The arboretum is headed by Andrew Smith, Director, and our vision is to be a world leader in trees.

This is an extremely unusual and rare opportunity for someone hungry to learn, to join the team tasked with looking after the living collection and historic landscape at Westonbirt.  We are seeking an enthusiastic and highly motivated individual with a passion for woody plants, eager to develop and expand their botanical knowledge in order to help raise curatorial standards at The National Arboretum.  Supporting the Westonbirt Curator, the main day to day task is undertaking a continuous programme of specimen plant identification and verification, to help further raise the status of the living tree collection as a world-class resource for science and learning.  Working intimately with our amazing trees and shrubs on a daily and in such a special environment, should be considered an absolute privilege.
