Tregothnan are internationally famed as the home of English tea since 1999 and our family has lived on our historic estate with its picturesque and environmentally protected gardens since 1334.

 

We boast the largest private botanical garden in Cornwall, which has enabled us to ‘put the English into English tea’ and surpass producers from around the world.

 

No longer the ‘new kid on the block’, we are constantly innovating and evolving our teas, as well as producing honey and providing a plethora of experiences and holidays the whole family can enjoy.

 

We are now seeking a Vegetable Gardener to help us maintain the existing vegetable garden and grow produce for the family, on our estate near Truro.

You will work in idyllic and picturesque landscapes in the heart of Cornwall, carrying out important gardening production to help keep us supplied.

The Role

 

As a Vegetable Gardener, you will be responsible for producing fruit and vegetables in our garden.

 

Working to a high standard, you will develop and maintain the vegetable garden according to organic principles, whilst propagating, planting and soil cultivating to produce vegetables, as well as weeding to maintain quality.

 

Additionally, you will perform pest and disease control duties, as well as plant care, pruning, watering, plant ordering and harvesting.

 

Regularly communicating and liaising with the Owner, you will also assist the Head Gardener with general gardening duties when necessary.

 

About You

 

To be considered as a Vegetable Gardener, you will need:

 

- Demonstrable experience as a Vegetable Gardener, including pruning fruit trees

- Previous experience working in a fruit and vegetable production garden

- The ability to work effectively individually and as part of a team

- A hands-on, hard-working and conscientious approach

- A diligent and organised attitude

- Good interpersonal skills and the ability to field queries from the general public

- A full, valid driving licence and access to a vehicle

 

The closing date for this role is Friday 10th December 2021.
