Organic Market Gardener / Vegetable Grower

Full-Time, fixed term contract – one year

37.5 hours a week

£23k - £25k dependent on experience

Do you have commercial organic food crop growing experience and a passion for high quality produce? Would you love to make a positive impact on the wellbeing of others?  We at Bridge Community Farms (BCF) have an exciting opportunity for an Organic Market Gardener to play an integral role within our happy and caring team, where you will develop and plant the harvesting plan for four 90ft poly tunnels, four acres of open field and our hydroponics unit.

Based on the farm at our Better Lives Centre in Ellesmere Port, you’ll execute this plan to provide a steady supply of good quality seasonal produce to support up to 250 veg boxes per week, our own small Farm Shop and some local high-end restaurants, all using organic methods. You’ll also get a warm feeling every time one of our wonderful wellness clients thanks you for helping them to “Grow a Better Life”.

You’ll plan and oversee the cultivation and maintenance of food crops, manage weed/pest/disease control programmes using organic methods and analyse horticultural yields, operational costs and financial returns.  In addition to ensuring deadlines and quality standards are met within agreed budgets, you’ll be responsible for supervising and training staff & volunteers, have a clear understanding of the relevant Health and Safety legislation and a valid driving licence.

With demonstrable food crop growing experience using organic methods, you’ll likely have an NVQ Level 3 or equivalent, RHS Level 2 or 3, HND, OND or perhaps a City & Guilds. Most importantly though, and what’s vital to us, is that you have a compassionate nature with a positive outlook on life, are a great communicator with fantastic customer service skills and a good sense of humour!

To apply, please email bridgevegbox@gmail.com together with an up-to-date CV; for more information about us and what we do, visit www.bwgardens.co.uk
