Horticulturist/Propagator

The Horticulturist/Propagator will be involved in the planning, development and maintenance of the Walled Garden and Coach House Garden, as focal points of the Markshall Arboretum, along with the production of propagated material for the Arboretum and Gardens.

They will be responsible for day-to-day gardening duties and maintenance of the Walled Garden and Coach House gardens. Tasks include weeding, planting, pruning, staking, cutting back, watering and the cultivation of a wide range of perennials and shrubs. As well as sowing and raising annuals for the continuity of display throughout the year. Propagation of herbaceous and woody material particularly from seed in the nursery area will also be required. They will deputise in the absence of the Senior Horticulturist and be responsible for supervising and directing junior members of the team and volunteers.
