Sole Gardener

An exciting position has become available to work as a skilled Sole Gardener to maintain and develop the grounds of a beautiful country estate near Chichester and a town house garden in London. The estate is privately owned and surrounded by agricultural fields and paddocks. The gardens are modern with a ‘Quintessential English’ twist that reflects the property’s Georgian charm. Topiary is a key feature, with fine lawns, herb garden, an orchard, a highly productive fruit cage, large glasshouse and vegetable garden-that supplies the family and guest’s meals. The garden boasts an array of beautiful old climbers and densely planted romantic borders that have recently been redesigned.

This position would suit an academically qualified and knowledgeable hands-on gardener with previous experience of managing and developing large private estate gardens. Other requirements include:

Ideally you will possess a minimum RHS Level 2 or equivalent qualification.

Experience of garden planning, design, establishment, and maintenance.

Have knowledge of horticultural pests and how to eliminate them

Basic maintenance skills and previous use of horticultural machinery such as strimmers, hedge cutters, leaf blowers, ride on / pedestrian mowers, MEWP, tractor and trailer work,

PA1, PA6, pesticide qualifications are desirable.

Candidates will be self-motivated and should also have a high level of fitness to be able to combat daily tasks
