Outstanding opportunity to learn from the team that built Majestic Trees!

We are looking to recruit enthusiastic and hard-working individuals to join our dedicated team for our 1- & 2-year apprenticeship programmes. Initially, training will be primarily nursery based however, there will be the opportunity to experience the planting team, observe the sales process and be mentored by members of the management team who together, created Majestic Trees.

About us

Majestic Trees is an award-winning specialist tree nursery that has won the UK Nursery Stock Grower of the Year an unprecedented four times and was the ‘Employer of the Year for Horticulture’ in 2018! Specialising in the growing, delivery, planting and aftercare of semi mature and character trees of exceptional quality up to 13 meters tall, we are unique amongst growers in providing a complete in-house delivery and planting service, so that our customers can fully engage in the fulfilling experience of buying specimen trees.

We plant extensively for private and professional customers nationwide, and are a preferred supplier to the RHS. Our visitor friendly nursery is open to the public six days a week, where over 12,000 trees, in 80-4,500L AirPots, set out over 27 acres, can be viewed and personally selected.

A choice of two courses:

The two-year Apprenticeship comprises of four days a week practical work on the nursery with one day a week during term time spent completing the prestigious Royal Horticultural Society Level 2 Course Principles of Plant Growth, Propagation and Development at Capel Manor College with examinations at the end of each module.

However, Majestic Trees understand that for some, a college classroom, the commitment of a two-year apprenticeship programme and the prospect of sitting RHS Examinations may not be for them. If this is the case, we are able to offer a one-year Traineeship, a totally in house programme with practical and theoretical training.

For either course, there will be a review and mentoring session each month with a Majestic Trees lead horticulturist where apprentices will be required to sit a tree plant identification exam, some internal assessments as well as a discussion of progress. Additionally, for either course, in house teaching will be required in our own training facility, taught by our very knowledgeable horticultural team who are gifted in this area. Towards the end of the course, there will also be practical tests based on horticultural nursery operations.

Person

Successful candidates should have a passion to learn and develop in all areas of production horticulture, specifically relating to trees. You will gain valuable on-the-job experience and will learn from long standing and well-respected team members, many of whom have been together since the company began. A can-do, nothing is impossible attitude, whatever the challenge, and in any weather is important. Furthermore, the ability to multi task, prioritise, work hard to meet deadlines efficiently is essential.

If you seize the opportunity, work hard and flourish we hope that upon successful completion of your course, you decide to stay with Majestic Trees and make a career here, as so many of our team have done.

Pay

We offer a base of £16,000 to £20,000 plus O/T to the successful candidate, dependant on age and experience, plus excellent benefits. After you have successfully completed your apprenticeship, you will receive a very good pay rise, and will in the future have the opportunity to advance, with all our current managers and supervisors all being promoted from within. You will also be able to join the industry’s leading profit sharing scheme, were 25% of the profits are shared out equally amongst the team, which was over £4,000 each person in 2019, and will significantly exceed this in 2021!
