Are you an experienced sundries buyer and manager who is looking for a new challenge?

About Our Client
Our client is a growing independent garden centre with a great reputation. They have their own nursery and grow lots of their own bedding plants and plant stock. The garden centre has a nice restaurant and is located in a busy seaside town, so it has a good footfall. The team in the garden centre work together to offer their customers the best service.

About the Role
This role will be in charge of the sundries department and will head up the buying and the retail team. You will also assist the garden centre manager with the running of the site and deputise in their absence. You will oversee buying, range reviews, merchandising and drive commercial results within this position. You will manage your team to be customer-focused and offer a high level of service.

The Ideal Candidate
The ideal candidate for this role will come from a garden retail background and have a mixture of retailing and buying experience within the sundries sector. You will have a good knowledge of the key suppliers, product ranges and seasonality in order to deliver continued increases in the sales numbers. You will be able to work with the supplier reps to build a competitive range to add value to the customers whilst also controlling stock levels and costs in an independent garden centre setting. You will be a strong communicator and be able to lead a team to deliver results. You will also possess good IT and analytical skills to ensure you maximise returns for the department.

Minimum Requirements
To be considered for this role, you will need to have a background in managing and buying a sundries department in the garden retail sector.
