We are looking for someone who will assist in making sure that the gardens and outdoor spaces are maintained to a high standard.  The postholder will be assisting with general maintenance of the gardens, such as mowing, pruning and weeding as well as assisting with the planting and maintenance of herbaceous plants and shrubs.

The Gardener will work alongside and provide advice to garden volunteers and apprentices. This is a public facing role and the post holder will be expected to interact with the public, answering questions or helping with garden tours when needed.

Company

The Royal Pavilion & Museums Trust (RPMT) is a charitable organisation. RPMT now manages and operates the Royal Pavilion & Museums’ buildings and collections on, including the Royal Pavilion Garden on behalf of Brighton & Hove City Council.

The Royal Pavilion Garden is one of a few fully restored regency gardens in the country. The garden was restored following John Nash’s 1820s plans and conform as closely as possible to the original lists of plants supplied to George IV.

Today, they are maintained under organic guidelines, using natural planting techniques and organic compost, with the use of chemicals prohibited. This approach continues to encourage the return of wildlife to the centre of Brighton, with butterflies, bees and a sizeable bird population.

As an employer, RPMT offer a range of staff benefits including a workplace pension scheme with significant employer contributions. We offer generous holiday entitlements, starting at 25 days plus bank holidays. We also offer a range of family friendly policies including maternity, paternity and shared parental leave.
