Grounds Maintenance Team Leader

£20,493-£22,627 per annum

Exmouth

Full time seasonal hours working Monday to Friday

About us

East Devon is independently recognised as an outstanding place and so it follows that its council must also strive to be outstanding.  Everything we do is aimed at ensuring that East Devon is a place that people want to live in, work in, visit and enjoy.  Our ambition is to be an outstanding council which works together with local people to create great value services and an outstanding community, economy and environment for East Devon, now and for future generations.

About the role

We are looking for a Team Leader with a passion for grounds maintenance to join our Exmouth Town & Seafront team working Monday to Friday inclusive. Working alongside the cleansing Team Leader, you will co-ordinate the grounds maintenance activities in the assigned area primarily responsible for maintaining all types of plants such as flowers, trees, shrubs and lawns in a variety of green spaces including public parks, gardens, and sports grounds as assigned by the service. In addition, you will also be expected to work collaboratively with other teams across both cleansing and grounds maintenance activities and any other operational demand undertaken by Streetscene as required. If you enjoy working outdoors and share our passion for keeping East Devon clean and green we want to hear from you. The team operates on a seasonal hours basis (41.5 hours in summer, 32.5 hours in winter – average of 37 hours per week).

About you

You will need to be an experienced, enthusiastic qualified gardener. A formal Horticultural qualification such as NVQ2, RHS level 2 or equivalent demonstrable horticultural knowledge is essential and you will need to be able to work seasonal hours. A valid driver’s licence is essential, and a PA1 and PA6 pesticide certification, chainsaw certification and/or a category C1 C1E or C driving licence (or B licence issued prior to Jan 1997) would be a distinct advantage.
