Full time, working 37 hours per week (1.0FTE) split as follows:

CTL: £33,797 per annum, pro rata

  • 22.2 hours per week (0.6FTE)

Unqualified Lecturer: £26,715 per annum, pro rata

Qualified Lecturer: £30,942 per annum, pro rata

  • 14.8 hours per week (0.4FTE)


We are looking for a Curriculum Team Leader and Lecturer to lead our Horticulture subject area. The successful candidate will work as part of the FE Management Team to provide day to day operational line management to staff within the curriculum team area, and promote excellence in professional practice by example and by participating in the observation process.

In addition, the role holder will be required to teach all aspects of Horticulture on full-time, part-time, and short courses, through lecturers and practical sessions. You will contribute to the management, assessment, ad recruitment of students along with having a input into curriculum development.

The post will assist the (Deputy) Director of FE to ensure that quality processes are taken forward and operated in a timely way, including ensuring that students receive a high-quality experience whilst at WUC.  The role holder will attend regular FE Managers’ meetings and run course team meetings within their area, along with contributing to growth of provision in the area.

The ideal candidate will have a background in horticulture, along with an understanding of Further Education and Apprenticeships, and hold a recognised teaching qualification.

To be successful in your application it is essential that you are able to continually drive up standards in teaching and learning to ensure all learners have an excellent learner experience and achieve their qualifications at Writtle University College. Therefore, experience of consistently good or better teaching is important and the ability to support and develop others.  It is also essential that you hold a degree in the relevant subject area and ideally be IV qualified.
