JUNIOR GARDENER (Live in) and PART-TIME KITCHEN GARDENER (2 days / week) REQUIRED

Two exciting vacancies have arisen in a beautiful, modern country estate near Shaftsbury, Dorset. We are looking for a driven and dynamic junior gardener keen to learn and develop their gardening skills with a team of gardeners managing a large garden area consisting of formal and amenity lawns, box hedging and topiary, herbaceous borders, large kitchen garden, glasshouse and other garden compartments requiring a high standard of maintenance. And a part time kitchen gardener.

Applicants for these roles will have experience working in a private estate gardens or hold a horticultural qualification. 

The owners are keen to promote a friendly and rewarding working environment, so it is important that you have a positive attitude, with good communication skills and are able to get on well with all other staff members. You will be joining a team of 8 other gardeners and will report into the Head Gardener.

For the Junior gardener, there is accommodation available - a 1-bedroom flat rent free that is ideal for a single person or couple without children. Pets are welcome. Working hours are anticipated to be Monday to Fridays 8am -5pm with some variation depending upon the season. Being in a rural location, applicants will need to have a full driving licence and own transport.

SALARY: Circa £22,000

For the part-time kitchen gardener, there is a one acre walled garden contains a wide variety of staple fruit and vegetables to supply the house with fresh fruit and vegetables. The kitchen gardener will report into the Head Gardener and will be responsible for the kitchen garden, orchard, two greenhouses and a large polytunnel. He / She will be required to carry out sowing and communicate with the house on the fruit and vegetable required throughout various times of year. The orchard contains apple trees, quinces, pears, amongst others.

SALARY:  £18 – 25 per hour dependent on experience
