Gardener/Groundsworker

Reference: NHE418320X1

£18,009 per annum

Based at either University Park or Jubilee Campus, this role will undertake all practical aspects of landscape maintenance including planting a wide range of shrubs, perennials, upkeep of ornamental gardens and bedding displays, including keeping all areas of work clean, tidy and promoting a welcoming place with a strong emphasis on the environment and health and safety.

Other duties will include the preparation, care and maintenance of amenity landscaped areas and sports grounds and the operation of a wide range of horticultural and grounds maintenance machinery.

You should be qualified to NVQ Level 2 (or equivalent) in amenity horticulture or a related discipline or have substantial relevant experience, have knowledge of a range of trees, shrubs and perennials and preferably hold an NPTC – PA1 and PA6A pesticide application certificate. You must also have experience in the use of compact and agricultural tractors and trailers including associated attachments. Due to the frequency with which you will drive vehicles involved in grounds maintenance operations and transport materials between University sites, you must hold a full current driving license unless disability precludes this.

This is a permanent, full time post and the hours of work are 36.25 per week to be worked five days out of seven (mainly Monday to Friday) with flexibility to work weekends as required. Job share arrangements may be considered.
