Live out Head Gardener Job, Burford - Oxfordshire
Start date: As soon as possible
Working Week: Monday - Friday (Saturday morning watering Rota)
Salary: £50k
Driving: Essential, must hold full clean driving licence
We have a fantastic opportunity for an experienced hands on Head Gardener to join a well-established team on a large formal private estate in Oxfordshire. You will oversee 2-3 gardeners.
This is an ideal role for a knowledgeable and passionate gardener, who has a great attitude and work ethic, with excellent communication skills. Our clients are looking for a Head gardener who has a friendly and pro-active personality, ideally with some knowledge on transforming a garden from a chemical garden into an organic garden.
The gardens are tranquil, and includes woodland areas with a river running through, a walled garden with fruit and vegetables, large terraces and an outdoor pool, there is also a wild garden. There are large greenhouses, a bee hive, Pigs, goats, chickens, tortoises
Duties to include but not limited to:
- Maintaining kitchen gardens,
- Producing organic fruit and Veg,
- Propagation,
- Formal beds/borders,
- Manicured lawns,
- Topiary and hedges,
- Annual plant and garden management
- Use of garden machinery, (keep in good working order)
- Care of the lake and surrounding areas
The ideal candidate must have extensive experience and knowledge of working in gardens to a high standard, an understanding of managing seasonal changes and dealing with plants with the correct horticultural practice. Ideally a relevant qualification in horticulture, or a comprehensive understanding of plants, including botanical names, pests, and disease and maintenance requirements. A clean driving is required along with PA1/PA6 Spraying certificate, it would beneficial to have a Chainsaw licence however not essential.
