Job Details

KEY PURPOSE
To support the Head Gardener of Geilston and The Hill House in managing, maintaining and developing the Hill House Garden and its plant collections, in line with the garden’s Management Plan and the other aims and objectives of the National Trust for Scotland.

The Hill House is considered to be Charles Rennie Mackintosh’s domestic masterpiece. Working to a commission from Glasgow book publisher, Walter Blackie, up-and-coming architect Mackintosh and his wife Margaret created almost everything, from the building itself to the furniture and textiles. The garden was an integrated part of both the original design of the home and the Blackies life. As such, we strive to ensure the gardens today pay homage to Charles Mackintosh’s original vision and the Blackies domestic experience.

Interested applicants should forward a completed application form by email via workforus@nts.org.uk or by mail to People Team (Applications), The National Trust for Scotland, Hermiston Quay, 5 Cultins Road, Edinburgh EH11 4DF, by first post (i.e. 10.00am) on Friday 16th April 2021
