The role of Research Worker carries out delegated forest nursery maintenance and research work as required. This role sits within the Forest Research Technical Services Unit (TSU) which provides a capacity to conduct nursery and field work across Great Britain. The TSU establishes, maintains and assesses field experiments and undertakes surveys for the science centres within Forest Research and on behalf of other customers.
The key responsibilities for the role will include:
Work experience in a nursery environment
Full driving license
Experience of working outdoors in all weathers.
Competent IT user with experience of the Microsoft Office suite.
Ability to plan and prioritise work, make decisions and problem solve.
An ability to work flexibly across a wide geographical area, staying away and altering working day pattern where necessary
Work experience in forest and woodland management
Qualified and experienced chainsaw operator with certificate (NPTC 201, 203, 301 & 313 or equivalent).
Qualified and experienced pesticide user with certificate (NPTC PA1 & PA6AW or equivalent).
First aid certificate holder (EFAW+F).
Qualified (FMOC) tractor driver with experience of flail mowers, trailer towing and front-end loader operations.
Demonstrable experience of lone working.
