An exceptional opportunity to work as a gardener in a substantial private garden in East Sussex. You will need significant horticultural experience, have an interest in growing fruit and vegetables, be physically fit and hold a full U.K. driving licence. The garden comprises perennial and wildflower planting set around the main house, along with a walled vegetable garden and a small orchard, set within the owners’ estate.
The ideal candidate will have the ability to develop and implement the owners’ vision for the gardens, as guided and directed by the estate manager, and be responsible for routine maintenance and seasonal tasks such as pruning. An interest in the wider estate, managed to encourage ecological diversity, is desirable, and the Estate Manager and Gardener will work together on larger projects. A good understanding of organic gardening, flexibility, enthusiasm, and the ability to work on your own initiative as well as part of a team within a private household will also be required.
