The Eaton Estate is recruiting for a Horticulturalist Gardener to join its Borders team on a fixed term 12 month contract, working full time for 40 hours per week.

The Eaton Estate centres on the rural communities of Aldford, Eccleston, and Saighton as well as parts of Chester city centre and comprises of some 450 homes, 14 farms, 90 commercial units, four schools and more than 4,000 hectares (10,000 acres) of agricultural land.

The estate provides a range of residential and commercial properties, from family homes and character cottages, to modern offices and city centre shops, as well as high quality farmland.

Its unique environment is managed sustainably to increase biodiversity and improve it for future generations.

The position requires a motivated individual with a keen eye for detail to maintain, upkeep and contribute towards the development of the Gardens to the highest possible standards. You will have responsibilities to carry out an agreed annual programme of work in order to maintain the borders whilst carrying out tasks such as pruning, staking, feeding and spraying.

Additionally, the successful candidate will join the Borders team, striving to continually improve on quality. Alongside colleagues, you will also work to implement plans of Lady Lennox-Boyd and undertake weekend watering duties when required on a rota basis.

With experience of horticultural techniques, you will possess a minimum qualification of RHS Level 2 in Horticulture or equivalent, whilst being proficient in operating a wide range of garden machinery. Personal qualities include a willingness to learn and work alongside others in our Gardens team, a ‘can do attitude’ and the ability to work flexibly in line with the needs of the gardens and Grosvenor family.
