 The position is Office based with site visits you will require good people management skills. Monitoring, organising of the staff and communicating with office colleagues on a regular basis will be an integral part of the job to ensure maximum efficiency and profitability.  As one of the management team you will aid in promoting our clients core values.

 

Responsibilities:

  • Manage and oversee commercial and domestic projects
  • Meeting financial targets for each project, reporting any concerns immediately to the Director
  • Program works, always keeping updated
  • Minor works, estimating
  • Follow the company processes for new client files and invoicing. You will need good IT skills and knowledge of Excel
  • Organise staff on sites to achieve maximum efficiency and profitability whilst not compromising standards of work
  • Organise and oversee Sub-contractors on both commercial and domestic sites.
  • Report to Director on a regular basis with individual status of jobs and highlight any issues before they compromise the projects
  • Organisation of maintenance schedules and dedicated teams.
  • Oversee the commercial projects and review their program of works with the Commercial Manager.
  • Meet with Team Leaders on site and report action points and issues
  • Sourcing and ordering of materials for projects within budget
  • Monitor Health & Safety on site and address / report issues to the commercial manager
  • Carry out staff appraisals
  • Management of machinery movements and allocation to sites
  • Management of Vehicle/Trailer allocation along with support to Contracts and Office Administrator with vehicle repair booking pick-up and delivery
  • Assist with the recruiting of new employees when requested by Office Manager

Knowledge & or Experience

  • Principles of Horticulture
  • Relevant experience / Qualifications in landscaping
  • Understanding of Landscape Construction
  • Advanced knowledge of H&S requirements
  • Contract Manager Experience. People with good commercial awareness who have owed their own company may be considered
  • Advanced knowledge of project budgets
  • Knowledge of all types of paving and setts and stone
  • Excellent organisational skills to ensure all aspects of the project are planned, timed and brought to fruition on time and in budget. Therefore understanding all aspects of landscape process is required, including Blockwork, Brickwork, retaining walls, setting up site levels, decking, Shrub and Tree Planting, turfing and seeding, fencing, non-specialist tree work.

Training and Certification:

The Contract / project Managers are required to undertake any training required to fulfil their role as directed by the company.  Contract / Project Managers are also required at times to carry out on the job training as well as induction training of new employees.
