An exciting opportunity has arisen to join the gardening team at Thyme, a beautiful country estate in the Cotswolds which is home to a thriving business comprising bedrooms, spa, the Ox Barn restaurant, cookery school and gardens.

To be considered you will need to be skilled and experienced, have an eye for detail and be able to ensure all your work is carried out to the highest standards.

You should have good all round gardening experience and have worked previously in the gardening sector, preferably on a private estate or similar. You will have good plant knowledge and be able to fit into the existing team of gardeners.

The work itself is varied and always interesting, we have a large kitchen garden that produces fruit, vegetables and herbs which are used in our restaurant so experience in this area is essential. Experience working with wildflower meadows, their careful management and the wildlife they support would also be very beneficial. You should be able to communicate with guests and other staff and be comfortable working with a wide range of garden machinery. The gardens are continuing to be improved and developed over time with the assistance of Bunny Guinness.

The successful candidate must be:

  • A person of intelligence and integrity with a professional manner
  • Must be friendly and articulate, and on occasions able and willing to take part in public events such as garden tours for guests and societies.
  • Hard working. conscientious and reliable.
  • Have knowledge of a wide range of garden machinery and its care.
  • Safe use of pesticides and chemicals.

Desirable Qualification requirements:

  • Recognised qualification in Horticulture to year 2 or above.
  • Full, clean driving licence.
  • Tractor driving competency.
  • PA1/PA6 Spraying certification.

Package & benefits:

  • Salary negotiable, depending on experience in line with PGG guidelines.
